Mezzo soprano Zan McKendree-Wright has performed extensively to critical acclaim, in Australia, New Zealand, Great Britain and New York. She is a versatile performer and her numerous reviews speak consistently of her warm, dramatically exciting voice and her engaging stage presence.
Ms McKendree-Wright has performed in numerous operas and her roles include: the title role in Bizet’s Carmen and Britten’s The Rape of Lucretia, Sesto in Handel’s Julius Ceasar, Dorabella in Cosi fan tutte, Judith in Bartok’s Bluebeard’s Castle, Sesto in Mozart’s La Clemenza di Tito, Orfeo in Gluck’s Orfeo ed Euridice, Ottone in Handel’s Agrippina, Flora in La Traviata, Marcellina in Le nozze di Figaro, Omar in The death of Klinghoffer, and Flosshilde and Schwertleite in Wagner’s Ring Cycle. Her concert and oratorio credits include Shostokovich’s Symphony No. 14, Verdi’s Requiem, Beethoven’s 9th Symphony, Mendelsohn’s Elijah, Handel’s Messiah, Bach’s Magnificat and Easter Oratorio, Vivaldi’s Magnificat, Skycity Starlight Symphony (Auckland, NZ) and A Night at the Opera (Christchurch, NZ).
