TURBULENT HEART — Gramophone Editor's Choice, December 2009
MELBA'S latest release, TURBULENT HEART, featuring The Queensland Orchestra, conducted by Guillaume Tourniaire, accompanying Steve Davislim, has been selected as an Editor's Choice by Gramophone editor, James Inverne. He writes: “This was a complete surprise and left me fairly stunned. Who knew that Louis Vierne, thought of (by me, at any rate) as an elegant rather than sensationalist composer, could deliver such high drama as features here? Guillaume Tourniaire, his Queensland forces and Steve Davislim – and not least fabulous sound from Melba Records – turn this into a sonic blockbuster in every way.” More

BELOVED OF THE GODS
Exquisite and imaginative performances of Mozart and Mendelssohn by the Dean Emmerson Dean trio and Tinalley String Quartet. The disc includes Mozart's Kegelstatt trio, Stephen Emmerson's Papamina Suite [from The Magic Flute] and Mendelssohn's String Quartet No.2.
"It's a recorded performance of great distinction. It's a finely managed oscillation between good humour and deep emotion, a model of its kind that deserves to be heard by many. Bravo!" OzArtsReview [Australia 1 November 2009]
