Emotions Down Under (III)

Canadian tenor Gary Rideout … his voice sounds fresh and young … he understands the music … and is sensational in the forging scene …

Israeli Asher Fisch had already demonstrated in the previous two releases that he is a Wagnerian conductor to watch, and here returns to demonstrate it again …

Richard Greager sings Mime with a dark voice, in character but without histrionics, and with perfect diction … John Wegner returns as as a powerful, dark Alberich …

This edition by Melba Recordings is, as always, exemplary: the sound quality is worthy of the most demanding equipment, and in the 161 page booklet we found Mike Ashman’s notices on the literary origins of the work to be more than illuminatng, as well as the original libretto … with the famous … Andrew Porter translation.

There is much to admire in Siegfried … and therefore I absolutely recommend it to anyone collecting the entire series … the conclusion of which I am sure will be a wonderful occasion.
