This is, technically, one of the finest DVDs I’ve seen. The DVD authoring, for enhanced widescreen, is absolute demonstration quality and it was done here in Australia for the Melba music company.
The documentary, directed by Scott Murray and written by Maria Vandamme and Scott Murray, is a musical insight into one of the 19th century’s most prolific and popular of all opera composers. It poses the question of why this composer is so relatively under-performed today. Beautifully photographed and intelligently crafted, this DVD is a great advocate for the composer’s work.
