La somnambule

La somnambule has tremendous depth and presence and sets up a superbly accurate listening position at front centre. It’s a delightfully light and active piece often reflecting Rossini, a Hérold contemporary, throughout its 69 minutes. Listening with eyes shut is uncannily like being in a concert hall, sans shuffling and coughing. Open your eyes after a few minutes and you’ll be surprised by how small our listening room suddenly seems.
